Latest Recordings

  • 2022 - Kim Person released a powerful video and single of the duo's original song "In the Land of the Buffalo". When Lana and Kim were performing on a cross-country tour in the early 1990s they purchased Dee Brown’s book “Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee” An Indian History of the American West, and read it as they traveled. In his book Dee Brown uses “council records, autobiographies and first hand descriptions allowing the great chiefs and warriors of the Dakota, Utes, Sioux, Cheyenne and other tribes to tell us in their own words of the the battles, massacres, and broken treaties that ultimately left them demoralized and defeated. A unique and disturbing narrative told with force and clarity, it changed forever our vision of how the West was really won.” In truth they saw this as America’s holocaust…kill their vital food source, the buffalo…and the Native Americans would perish…the accounts in the book are horrifying at best, a graphic accounting of man’s inhumanity to man. “Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee” was the inspiration for “In the Land of the Buffalo”. The video is currently nominated for Best Music Video, Veer Music Awards 2023.
  • 2021 - Kim & Lana produced a new single and video for their original song “Cornstalk Pony”, at Cimirron/Rainbird Recording in Yorktown. Due to the restrictions of the pandemic they worked remotely with Nashville friends, Alison Prestwood on bass, Jim Hoke on pedal steel and harmonica, John Gardner on percussion, and Kim on acoustic guitars and percussion. This new recording of “Cornstalk Pony” is featured in a PBS video series called “The Wild Side” and is currently airing across Tennessee and Kentucky PBS affiliates.
